Belina Inc. started as a response to the current trend toward disposable furniture.  Truthfully, it started from the deep dislike of that disposable culture and the desire to be part of the change.

If one looks around today, it is common to see people investing so much of themselves, their time, money, and emotional effort, into their homes to then turn around and fill those same homes with junk.  Furniture that won’t last, items that will just look worse and worse as time goes by and that will ultimately end up in a landfill. 

Why would anyone do that?  Certainly they do not do it purposefully?  It feels like this is a societal problem that we have fallen into without realizing it.  The things that are offered to us are all mass produced with a singular focus on the bottom line and our choices are narrowed in a way that does not benefit us.

However, we are waking up to this and we are, as consumers, becoming more aware how much of our life is spent buying, discarding and then buying again things that are of low quality.  Many of us now long to have something with a sense of durability and something that will be with us becoming more beautiful with age. Something that may even outlive us and be cherished beyond our own time.

In our shop, those are the pieces we want to build.  Items that are thoughtfully designed, well built and true to the function of each piece.  The primary focus of the shop is to create high quality.
